2018 NC State Parks Challenge – Intro

Good morning all,

I’m slowly getting better about updating this blog. (4 months between posts is better than 13 right?)

This post is the beginnings of a bit of backtracking again. I swear I’ll get used to uploading posts that are more current. Hopefully.

Back in January Will and I took the dogs back to Medoc Mountain State Park for a quick day trip. While exploring the visitor’s center we had a very nice conversation with one of the park rangers who introduced us to the NC State Parks Passport Program, which is basically a passport book for the state parks. You simply visit the park and get your book stamped. A neat incentive exists for visiting multiple parks as you are able to receive state park prizes for every ten parks you visit. In addition to visiting each of the state parks, Will and I are planning to complete the Amazing Adventure Challenge by visiting all 41 parks and the Mountain-to-Sea trail during 2018.

Will and I are currently planning a two week trip for the end of July to the NC mountains. We’re planning on camping in the teardrop for 2 weeks are we hit as many of the state parks in that region as we can. This is the trip that I am really going to try to blog as we go. We’ll be gone for two weeks and have a few zero days built into our “schedule” so that we aren’t as rushed as we were on our spring break trip (Read more about that in the Our First Trip entry).

725 days until our Great American Adventure begins.

Life in the right lane,

Rachel
