Welcome

Welcome to our blog!

We are Will and Rachel and while we’re currently writing from North Carolina, we will eventually be adding new blog posts from all over the United States.

We have always loved new adventures and can’t wait to see where new trips take us.

I (Rachel) will be keeping you updated on our latest traveling adventures and Will will be giving you more information about all of the technical stuff (rig modifications). He’s also the mastermind behind all of the photos you will see from our travels.

We’ve been on quite a few adventures together already and through them, we’ve learned quite a bit. But mostly, we’ve learned to slow down. To be present. To live in the moment. To take in all that our wonderful world naturally provides. Through these lessons, we’ve developed our own “slogan” if you will, to live “life in the right lane“. Not only are we hoping to live in the “best” lane, but a big purpose behind our travels is to take the back road, avoid the beaten path, and drive slowly in the right-hand lane so that we are able to soak in all there is.

So again, welcome to our blog. We hope you find inspiration through our posts so as to find yourself living life in the right lane.

Meet me in Montana

Oh, Montana, you have soothed my soul.  If you could meet me underneath that Big Montana Sky, you wouldn’t regret it. Not for a second. Montana gives you big, seemingly endless, clear blue skies (they don’t call it big sky country for nothing), the greenest landscape we’ve seen in the west, and crystal-clear mountain lakes. …

Idaho Spuds

We headed straight out of Utah and right into Idaho where there literally are fields and fields and fields of potatoes. And of course, with all of those potatoes we had to try Idaho Spuds for ourselves. They’re delicious. Our first day in Idaho we drove to Atomic City where the country’s first fatal nuclear …

About

The DMG Overland blog serves a number of purposes. We not only post about our most recent trips to new places, but share a lot of (what we hope) is helpful information. We share a bit about the modifications we make to our rig (2015 Toyota Tacoma and TC Teardrop Off-road series trailer) so that you can duplicate them as you’d like. We also write about off-road traveling and camp cooking and even write about the specific things we do to make traveling with our dogs as safe and fun as it can be. Our blog will not only include a lot of written information, but it will also be extremely photo heavy as we attempt to capture the beautiful places we visit on camera.

Although we’re currently taking as many local North Carolina trips as we can, we’re also continuing to plan and make adjustments for our Great American Adventure during the summer of 2020. During that trip we will travel for three months across the United States, hoping to hit as many National Parks and overlanding trails as possible. Until then, feel free to follow along with what we’re currently up to.

We hope you enjoy traveling along with us!
